BARBARA HASKINS was born in Hot Springs, VA and is an artist, author, poetess, educator, public speaker and community activist. She has been a resident of Queens, NY for over 45 years; where she is a passionate advocate for the cultural and educational, uplift and preservation of African-American self esteem.
Ms. Haskins began writing poetry approximately 20 years ago as a hobby to privately express her feelings about prevalent social issues; especially in regard to African-American children. One of her foundational beliefs is that if a child is given a chance to develop and learn their culture and self-worth, that child will succeed.
Ms. Haskins is founder of the international and critically acclaimed, Find It-Face It-Fix It youth outreach program. She has professionally interacted with a host of African-American luminaries over her illustrious career; and reminds us all that "...if we're not a part of the solution -- we're a part of the problem."
